Luke Jephcott was told by Plymouth Argyle manager Ryan Lowe to go out on loan to Truro City, play some games and score goals, and he is doing just that.

The 19-year-old striker has netted twice in his first three matches for Paul Wotton’s White Tigers.

His latest goal came in the 1-0 victory over Swindon Supermarine at Treywe Road on Saturday.

That was Truro’s third successive win at the start of their Southern League Premier Division season.

It leaves them two points clear at the top of the table from Tiverton Town and Harrow Borough.

Jephcott was also on target for City when they won 3-0 at home to Dorchester Town last Tuesday.

Defender Ryan Law has also started all three games for Truro after signing on loan from Argyle.

His initial 28-day loan has already been extended until January and it would be no surprise if that was the case with Jephcott too.

Truro have two more Southern League matches before his loan is scheduled to end.

They will be away to Chesham United on Saturday and then host Weston-Super-Mare on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.

Meanwhile, Ashley Smith-Brown’s loan to Oldham Athletic from Argyle has not started so well.

Oldham suffered their third consecutive defeat at the start of their League Two campaign as they lost 3-0 away to Bradford City on Saturday.

Smith-Brown was substituted at half-time, with the Latics already trailing 2-0.

The 23-year-old left-back signed on a season-long loan for Oldham at the start of August and has made four starts for them so far.

The Latics are next in action tomorrow night when Exeter City are the visitors to Boundary Park.
