Grungy

This week on The Fringe, we're getting ready for the Anti-Valentine's Day Bash on Saturday!

Niecy Blues is one of the three acts playing Charleston Scene's Anti-Valentine's Day Bash tomorrow night at The Royal American. We also had her on the phone from Columbia this week for an interview for The Fringe.

The R&B singer with honey smooth vocals has collaborated with DJs, producers and full bands, from Charleston's Contour to Columbia's ET Anderson. And our pick for the best song of 2017 happened to be one of those collaborations: "WAYS" by Niecy Blues and Contour.

Niecy Blues

Niecy Blues is from Columbia, but her producer Contour for our favorite track of the year, "WAYS," lives right here in Charleston.

Along with an interview with Niecy, this week's episode includes a variety of new tunes from South Carolina artists. "Mercy" by the give & the take, a band that is also playing the Anti-Valentine's Day Bash, was just premiered by Charleston Scene, and we give it a spin again.

Another Charleston Scene premiere is in the mix: "Creeps" by Argot. And, we played a jazz and poetry track from poet laureate Marcus Amaker's new album, featuring Quentin Baxter. Hale Bopp Astronauts and Rott Scoberts also released new songs this week.
