Crash south of Dover sends two to Saint Marys

DOVER — A Chatfield woman was injured after a collision about a mile south of Dover Sunday night.

Joann Schultz, 86, of Chatfield was driving west on Olmsted County Road 29 at about 6 p.m. Sunday when her Ford Taurus stopped at the intersection with Olmsted County Road 10 then, after she resumed driving, collided with a Volkswagen Beetle driven north on CR 10 by Emily Walsh, 43, of Eyota, according to the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. 

As a result of the crash, CR 10 was closed for about an hour Sunday night. 

Schultz suffered serious injuries, according to the incident report, and was transported by St. Charles Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys. Walsh was trapped in her vehicle and needed to be extricated by fire department personnel. She suffered minor injuries, the report stated, and was also transported to Saint Marys.

According to a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman, Schultz remained in critical condition Monday afternoon, and Walsh remained in good condition.
