A Rochester home in the Elton Hills neighborhood was burglarized on Friday. Approximately $40,000 in jewelry was taken.
Rochester Police were called to a residence in the 2500 block of 12th avenue Northwest Saturday for a report of a burglary that occurred the night before sometime between 9:45 and 11 p.m., Lt. Mike Sadauskis said.
A 54-year-old woman lives at the residence with her teenage daughter and son. The woman’s daughter returned home from work around 11 p.m. on Friday and found that her room had been rummaged through, Sadauskis said. The woman’s son had been at the home that night but left for about 45 minutes and returned home around 10:30 p.m. and didn’t notice anything amiss.
The home was believed to have been unlocked.
The theft is under investigation.
