Students, driver injured in Austin bus crash

AUSTIN — The driver and four passengers received minor injuries Friday morning when an Austin Public Schools bus slid through an intersection at Minnesota Highway 105 and County Road 4 and into a ditch.

The accident, which happened five miles south of Austin, occurred at about 7 a.m., according to Sgt. Troy Christianson of the Minnesota State Patrol. The Patrol report describes the road conditions at the intersection at that time as "wet."

Kevin M. Alm, the 75-year-old driver, was taken to Mayo Clinic Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Five of the nine passengers were also treated by some injuries.
