Several media sources are reporting an unnamed sources is saying that Marcus Sherels of Rochester is leaving the Vikings and has signed a deal to play for the New Orleans Saints.

The source was cited Thursday as saying the free-agent cornerback and return specialist is signing a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

The 31-year-old Rochester John Marshall and University of Minnesota graduate has played for the Vikings for nine years as a record-setting punt returner.

Sherels averaged a lofty 12 yards per return in 2018 with a long of 70 yards. He made $1.4 million for the season.
