Larry Fisher -- Austin

Larry M. Fisher, 74, of Austin, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

Larry was born April 24, 1945, in Duluth to Lyle and Delores (Thibault) Fisher. He attended Austin High School, where he swam on the swim team and spent his summers working as a lifeguard, graduating in 1963. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy for four years; and after his service, he earned his bachelor's degree from Mankato State University. Larry married Mary Foster on March 28, 1970, in Estelline, S.D. He spent his career as a U.S.D.A. Federal Food Inspector.

Larry was a member of the Cedar Valley Conservation Club, the Austin Post #91 American Legion and First Congregational Church. An avid lover of antique cars, he enjoyed taking his '49 Ford to car shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Ernie and Myrtle Foster.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Fisher; children, Bryan Fisher (Mari Sevig) of Maplewood, Jill (Mike) Lubbesmeyer of Plymouth, and Brad (Ann) Fisher of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Solomon and Isaac Fisher, Adam Lubbesmeyer, Juliet and Gabriel Fisher; twin brother, Lyle (Shirley) Fisher of Rochester; brothers, Robert (Lori) Fisher of Florida and Scott Fisher of Missouri; brother-in-law, Merwin (Laura) Foster of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Shari Mason officiating. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery with Austin Post #91 American Legion and Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military rites.
