Peter Boe -- West Concord

Peter Bryant Boe, 88, of West Concord, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2019, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1931, in Blooming Prairie, the first of nine children to Norman and Jesse (Bryant) Boe. He grew up on a farm near Blooming Prairie and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School, Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in Italy and was trained as a tank mechanic. After his military service, he returned to West Concord and worked with his father in a repair shop. Since the 1950s, he has been selling Jeeps at Boe Jeep in West Concord.

Peter was very community oriented. He served on the city council, as mayor and as fire chief. He was instrumental in starting the ambulance service in West Concord as well as training programs for fire and rescue volunteers. He was very handy with repairing nearly anything, building homes, plumbing and electrical work.

Peter was an intelligent, well read person. His gentleness, kindness and calmness were evident to all who encountered him. He was one of the best joke tellers around. He enjoyed the fishing opener, Jeep rallies and 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, talking aviation with his daughter and working with his son, Steven, at the dealership.

Peter was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Concord and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Signora Boe; children, Steven Boe (Tracy Bakken) and Deanna Boe, all of West Concord; siblings, Arthur (Myrtie) Boe of Faribault, Ervin (Susie) Boe of Dover, Stanley (Tamera) Boe of Faribault, Margaret (Greg) Alberts of Tomahawk, Wis., and Zoa (Jim) Heckman of Wells; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Boe and Marilyn Boe, both of West Concord; and brother-in-law, William Leonelli of Toole, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Jessie Boe; and siblings, Arlo Boe, Burton Boe and Elizabeth Leonelli.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel and from 10 p.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Concord with Rev. Craig Breimhorst officiating. Interment will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township with military honors by the Countywide Funeral Detail. Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
