LOWER PROVIDENCE – PennDOT has reopened the bridge carrying Eagleville Road over Eagleville Run in Lower Providence Township following the completion of a rehabilitation project.

PennDOT’s contractor removed and reset the masonry arch barrel, walls and barrier; excavated and replaced the arch backfill with lightweight concrete; and replaced the concrete parapets with a stone masonry facing.

Built in 1935, the Eagleville Road bridge over Eagleville Run is a single-span stone masonry arch structure, and carries an average of 6,252 vehicles a day.

This structure is one of seven bridges in Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is repairing under a $7,220,000 bridge improvement project.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in late 2019.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on the Lower Providence bridge improvement project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
