Aberdeen citizens will be floating on air as two events showing ways to improve air quality are taking place this month.

On June 20, the city will celebrate National Clean Air Day which will be followed by the Evolution Motor Show on June 22.

To celebrate the former, there will be stalls outside Marks and Spencer’s in the city centre from 10am to 4pm.

Council officers will showcase how air quality is measured and what can be done to improve it. And First Bus will give away free day passes.

The NHS will also be teaching the public the benefits of active travel such as walking or cycling.

John Bynorth, policy and communications officer at Environmental Protection Scotland said: “Aberdeen’s Clean Air Day public event will give people the chance to see for themselves how they can contribute to reducing car use which will improve air quality, reduce congestion, and bring health benefits to everyone.”

The Evolution Motor Show will be held on Queen Street beside Marischal College.

It will see the largest display of electric vehicles the city has ever witnessed from 10am to 4.30pm, with experts available to chat about the technology.

Councillor Philip Bell said: “All of us can play a part and I’d encourage everyone to come along to either of the events as there’ll be a lot of useful and practical information.”
