A woman was taken to hospital yesterday after a crash involving a car and a van.
The accident happened shortly before 8.15am on the A99 Latheron to John o’Groats road.
Firefighters used cutting gear to free the casualty and she was taken to Caithness General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The smash involved a Seat Ibiza car and a Fiat Fiorino van.
One lane of the route was blocked before it fully reopened at 11am.

A fire service spokesman said: “We received a call from police to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.
“Three appliances have been sent to the scene with appliances from Thurso and Wick, joined by a community response unit from Lybster.
“Hydraulic cutting gear is in use with crews standing by for instruction from the ambulance service.”
A police spokesman said: “Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
“One female casualty has been taken to Caithness General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
