A 34-year-old man who attacked his father in his parents’ home was jailed for 21 months yesterday.
Adam Scott, described as an Inverness prisoner, admitted a total of six offences committed in April and May this year, including assault, police assault, racially aggravated threatening behaviour, resisting arrest and possession of a knife.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that on April 6 this year, Scott went to his parents’ home in Woodlands Court highly intoxicated by an unknown substance.
Fiscal depute Robert Weir said: “He was highly agitated and aggressive and making direct threats of violence towards his parents.
“Efforts were made to calm him down but his behaviour escalated with him damaging property by kicking doors and walls. He then bit his father’s arm who felt it necessary to restrain his son on the floor of the living room.”
Mr Weir said it took two calls to police before officers arrived to see an exhausted and upset Mr and Mrs Scott still pinning their son on the ground,
Scott then resisted arrest, throwing his body around, attempting to spit on the officers, and injuring the hand of one.
Mr Weir said that leg restraints had to be applied and after Scott was taken to Burnett Road Police Station, he spat towards a police sergeant and racially abused another.
The fiscal added that on May 23, Scott was at the Lidl supermarket in Telford Street and took a knife out of his pocket..
