Your guide to the Broome County Fair

County fair season is upon us.

For Broome County, the festivities begin Tuesday, when the Broome County Fair returns for its 145th year.

Held at the Whitney Point Fairgrounds from July 23 to 28, the fair will feature a tractor pull, carnival rides, Wild West Revue, illusions, contests and other activities throughout its six-day run.

General admission is $6, and children 12 and younger are free. There will be free gate admission all day Tuesday, as well as before noon Wednesday and Friday.

General season tickets for ages 13 and up are $22. Season tickets are not valid for grandstand admission.

Below is a schedule for this year's fair.

Tuesday: Opening Day

The fair will officially open at 5 p.m. Gate admission is free all day.

  • 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.: Little, Jr. and Miss. B.C. Fair.
  • 5 to 10 p.m.: Pay-one-price rides.
  • 6 p.m.: Broome County Fair Kickoff Parade. Following the parade, there will be antique tractor pulls and a baked goods auction.

Wednesday: Demolition Derby Day

The gates will open at 9 a.m.

There will be free gate admission until noon. Grandstand admission is $5 general admission, and $2 for children ages 5 to 12.

  • Noon to 5 p.m.: Pay-one-price rides.
  • 1 to 3 p.m.: Kiddy tractor pull.
  • 5 p.m.: Power wheels demolition derby (free for ages 4-10).
  • 7 p.m.: Demolition derby.

Thursday: Special Kids Day

Gates open at 9 a.m.

  • 9 to 11 a.m.: 4-H horse shows at Horse Arena
  • 9 a.m.: Cattle barns open, and 4-H shows.
  • Noon: Rides open for the general public.
  • 5 to 10 p.m.: Pay-one-price rides.
  • 6 p.m.: Out of field tractor pulls (free grandstand event).

Friday: Diesels and gas pickup truck pull day

Gates open at 9 a.m. There is free gate admission until noon.

  • 9 a.m.: 4-H Open Dairy Show.
  • 9 a.m.: 4-H Horse Show fun class.
  • Noon  to 5 p.m.: Pay-one-price rides.
  • 7 p.m.: Diesels and gas pickup truck pulls (grandstand admission is $5 general admission, $2 for children 5-12).

Saturday: Super stock and modified tractor pull day

Gates open at 9 a.m.

  • Noon: Rides open.
  • Noon: Semi-Truck Pride and Polish Parade.
  • 1:30 p.m.: Semi-truck pull.
  • 2 p.m.: Lego building contest.
  • 7 p.m.: Livestock and pick auction.
  • 7 p.m.: Super stock and modified tractor pulls (grandstand admission is $10 general admission, $5 for children 5-12).

Sunday: Final day, veterans day

Gates open at 9 a.m. The fair will officially close at 9 p.m.

Veterans receive $1 of admission. Free gate admission after 5 p.m.

  • Noon: Rides open.
  • 2 p.m.: King Arthur Baking Contest.
  • 2 p.m.: Broken B Rodeo (grandstand admission is $5 general admission, $2 for children 5-12).
