PROVIDENCE — The death of a Providence woman who fell from a third-floor window early Sunday was accidental, police said Tuesday.

Police had originally investigated the death of Marangley Colon, 32, as a possible homicide. But by Tuesday, they had concluded that she fell from her home at 75 Wendell St. when she lost her balance while trying to throw objects at her boyfriend’s car from an open window during an argument.

The boyfriend was “very cooperative, and very upset as well,” said Detective Capt. Timothy O’Hara of during a news conference Tuesday at police headquarters.

Police said Colon and her boyfriend got into an argument early Sunday, and the boyfriend started to drive away. Colon opened the window to throw objects — none of them heavy and not trying to hurt him — at the car, Maj. David Lapatin said.

Police found Colon’s body in the driveway when they arrived.

The boyfriend, who also lived at the Wendell Street address, got back on scene a short time later. He did not notice that she had fallen before he left, police said.

Colon did not suffer any other injuries besides those suffered in the fall, Lapatin said.

The investigation included a medical examiner’s report.
