CENTRAL FALLS -- One of Rhode Island’s most wanted fugitives was arrested in California on Thursday on charges of child molestation, according to the Central Falls police.

Saul Lopez, 63, was arrested at a home on Elder Avenue in Moreno Valley, California, the Central Falls police said.

Lopez had been added to the Rhode Island’s Most Wanted list in November. He was wanted on five counts of first-degree child molestation against a family member, Central Falls police said.

Central Falls police said they had developed a lead that Lopez had settled down with a possible family member in California. The arrest came in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force, according to Central Falls police.

Lopez’s last known address had been on Summit Street in Central Falls, police said earlier.

Police said they're waiting to see if Lopez would waive extradition to Rhode Island to face the charges.
