Burrillville: Service featuring talks by veterans, prayers, patriotic music, soldiers' stories and reading of the First Universalist Church Honor Roll at the church, 134 Main St., Harrisville. 5 p.m. Afterward, a short 1940s film on the dedication of the Glendale Honor Roll and World War II scrap drive will be shown and there will be a display of historic artifacts. Cranston: Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Celebration, Pocasset Cemetery, 417 Dyer Ave. 6 p.m.

East Greenwich: Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Academy Field, Rector Avenue, and travels Mawney Street onto First Avenue for a wreath laying at the World War II Memorial on the corner of Cliff Street, continues north to the Town Hall, 125 Main St., for closing ceremonies at 11 a.m. The "Lone Pipe," Aaron Lindo, leads the parade, which features police and fire honor guards, elected officials, the Kentish Guards and Varnum Continentals. There will be antique cars and fire apparatus. Closing ceremonies include a recitation of the Gettysburg Address. In case of inclement weather, a ceremony will be held in Swift Community Center, 121 Peirce St., at 10 a.m. 886-8604, 261-7729.

Exeter: Commemorations: Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail.

-Vietnam Veterans of America, Greater Providence Chapter 273 and South County Chapter 325 Memorial Service at the Vietnam Veterans Monument, 7 a.m., rain or shine. Raising of the flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute to honor the fallen, and speaking program with Lt. Col. Jackson Doan, USMC, from the Naval War College, and Capt. John S. Casey (ret.), executive director of Battleship Cove, as master of ceremonies, at noon. Free admission for veterans May 25-27.

Foster: Parade, with wreath laying, starts at 8:45 a.m. from Foster Center and North roads and proceeds to the memorial at the Ben Eddy building, South Killingly Road. In case of rain, parade will be cancelled and an observance will be held at Foster Center Fire Station, Foster Center Road.

Little Compton: Parade steps off at 10 a.m. at Veterans Field, 8 Meetinghouse Lane, and proceeds around Town Commons for a service. All invited to participate. (508) 493-6198.

Lincoln Memorial Day Parade/Post Parade Celebration: Chase Farm Park, 669 Great Rd., Lincoln. Newport: Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial, Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, Fort Adams State Park, 80 Fort Adams Drive. Newport: Miantonomi Tower, Miantonomi Memorial Park, 120 Hillside Ave. Tower, built as a memorial to veterans of World War I, will be open. 1:30-3:30 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 845-5300.

North Kingstown: Wreath Laying Ceremony, 9 a.m. at the Civil War Memorial at Town Hall, 80 Boston Neck Rd., Route 1A, and at memorials at nearby Veterans Memorial Park. Parade steps off by 10 a.m. at West Main Street, to Brown and Phillips streets through Wickford village, to Tower Hill Road to Grand Army of the Republic Memorial at Elm Grove Cemetery for ceremonies at 11 a.m. Parade will be canceled in event of rain; ceremonies at Elm Grove Cemetery still take place at 11 a.m.

North Providence: Ahlborg Memorial Day 5K starts at RE/MAX, 1417 Douglas Ave.; Kids Fun Run, 11:30 a.m., 5K Road Race, noon; memorial5k.com. Parade steps off 1 p.m. from North Providence High School, 1828 Mineral Spring Ave., marches on Mineral Spring Avenue, north onto Douglas Avenue and ends at Gov. Notte Jr. Park. Pawtucket: Veterans' Council Ceremony, Veterans Memorial Park, Roosevelt Avenue and Exchange Street at 11 a.m. With Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien. 573-7057.

Richmond/Charlestown: Carolina Parade begins at 9 a.m. from Carolina Fire Station, Richmond, to Routes 112 and 91, across from St. Mary's Church, 437 Carolina Back Rd., Charlestown, for a ceremony.

Scituate:American Legion Post 19 Parade forms at 10 a.m. at Berkander Field and Institute Lane and steps off at 10:30 a.m. from the corner of Institute Lane and Danielson Pike (Route 6), proceeds west on Danielson Pike to Silk Lane to West Greenville Road (Route 116), to the steps of the Old Historical Congregational Church for ceremonies. Special Vietnam War Commemoration Ceremony honoring Vietnam veterans. In case of rain, ceremonies held inside the North Scituate Community House, 195 Danielson Pike.

Smithfield: Memorial Service, Veterans Memorial, Deerfield Park, Deerfield Drive. Presented by American Legion Balfour-Cole Post 64 and Smithfield Memorial Veterans of Foreign War Post 2929 and its auxiliary. Parade of colors kicks off the ceremony at 10:30 a.m. with honor guards from the Smithfield Police and Fire departments. In conjunction with the Senior Center, donations of new socks and underwear are requested for homeless veterans around the state.

South Kingstown: Parade begins at 10 a.m. from Holley Street, travels down Main Street and ends on High Street at Saugatucket Park next to Wakefield Elementary School for a ceremony.

Swansea: Parade steps off at 1 p.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner's Neck Rd. Veterans of all wars invited to march in the parade.

Warren: Naval Honors Ceremony, Town Wharf, Water Street, 7:45 a.m. With bugler, placing of wreath into the water, TAPS. Military Honors Ceremony, Town Commons, State and High streets, 8:15 a.m. With wreath laying, firing squad, TAPS. Paradesteps off at 8:30 a.m. from the Town Commons and ends at the South Burial Ground for ceremonies, 9:15 a.m.

Warwick: Avenue of Flags, Pawtuxet Memorial Park, 100 Harrison Ave. (between Warwick Avenue and Fair Street). 781-4600. More than 300 American flags displayed. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., weather permitting. Free.

West Warwick: West Warwick Veterans Council Observance, West Warwick Veterans Memorial Park, Two Legion Way. Guest speaker is Capt. Gabriel Soltero, USN. 9:30 a.m.

Westerly-Pawcatuck: Parade forms at the Pawcatuck Shopping Center, 37 South Broad St., Pawcatuck, Conn., steps off at 9:30 a.m., travels West Broad Street, stops at the Pawcatuck Bridge for ceremony, turns onto High Street and enters Wilcox Park in Westerly for ceremonies at the bandstand. oceanchamber.org.

Woonsocket: Observance hosted by the United Veterans Council and the City of Woonsocket, 10:30 a.m., United Veterans Council Armed Forces Park, Davidson Avenue. Short speaking program, Woonsocket Police and Fire Honor guards, Woonsocket High School Air Force ROTC, music by Woonsocket High School Band and soloist Charles Desaulniers.
