Providence man sentenced to 10 years for possessing child pornography

A registered sex offender from Providence has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography and sending explicit text messages to a 14-year-old girl.

The state police Internet Crimes Against Children task force began investigating 48-year-old Michael Llorca after his online activities were flagged by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Llorca, who has a prior rape conviction from Massachusetts, was arrested Jan. 18, 2018, and pleaded guilty on March 12, 2019.
