PROVIDENCE — If you were paying in small bills — ones, to be precise — $2,000 would stack up to about eight inches, easily filling a plain, brown paper bag.

This information could come in handy for the winning bidder in Trinity Repertory Company's auction of two tickets to the final Saturday performance of the sold-out run of "Prince of Providence," the George Brant play based on The New York Times bestselling book by former Providence Journal writer Mike Stanton that chronicles the life of former Providence Mayor Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci.

Online auction site, 32auctions.com, which hosted the Trinity Rep auction, says a total of five bids were placed: an opening bid of $200, plus raises to $1,001, $1,500 and $1,825, before the winning bid of $2,000 was placed Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

No word was immediately available on who won.
