PROVIDENCE — An armed gunman stole an entire cash register from a MetroPCS store Tuesday, police said.

Store clerk Daniel Rosales, 31, told police a man asked him to open the front door of the store at 24 Pontiac Ave. at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. He thought the man was a regular customer, but as Rosales walked back to the counter, the suspect approached him “very aggressively,” brandished a small black firearm and said, “Get on the floor, I’m not playing,” police said.

The suspect then took the cash register and fled.

Police said the register was a small black box with $83 inside.

The suspect was described as in his late 40s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black winter coat, blue jeans, brown work boots and black gloves, police said.

Nobody has been arrested, and detectives are investigating, according to police.
