Rhode Island announces 5 deaths from Covid-19

The Rhode Island Department of Health on Monday reported 5 coronavirus-related deaths and said 103 people had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and Sunday.

That brings the total toll in the state to 995 deaths and 17,904 known cases.

There were 61 patients with coronavirus in Rhode Island hospitals on Saturday, the most recent date for which data were available. Two were in intensive care; and two were on ventilators.

The 103 positive tests over the past two days came along with 5,299 negative tests, for a 1.90% positivity rate. When only those who tested for the first time are counted, the positive rate was 5.1%.
