Providence has its third heat wave of the summer

The temperature has reached 90 degrees today in Providence, marking the third heat wave of the summer.

On both Monday and Tuesday, high reached 93 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

A heat wave is defined as three or more days with temperatures of 90 degrees or higher.

It looks like the heat wave will run for just three days, since Thursday’s high is expected to reach 85 degrees.

Providence had two heat waves in July. The first ran four days, from July 18 to July 21. The second lasted six days, from July 25 to July 30.

The average temperature for July was 4.1 degrees above normal at 77.6 degrees.

Through the first 11 days of August, the average temperature has been 5.6 degrees above normal at 79.1 degrees.
