Amid problems with people following the rules to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the Block Island Town Council voted Wednesday night to pull all outdoor entertainment licenses until the end of summer, according to the Block Island Times.

The move came after Gov. Gina Raimondo earlier Wednesday said Block Island is “not doing well” when she was asked about some photographs from the island ferry. She said officials might have to take further action.

The move, passed by a 3-1 vote, has generated controversy, according to the Block Island Times, which quoted a hotel owner saying the council is punishing all businesses, when it should instead fine businesses that aren’t complying with the rules.
