Key workers, their families and people over 65 are being offered tests for COVID-19 at a mobile centre in Gloucester.

The mobile site at Oxstalls Tennis Centre is operating from today until Monday, May 11 and being run by the Department for Health and Social Care.

Soldiers from the Royal Welsh Regiment, who helped assemble the site, are helping NHS staff and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

As well as people with potential coronavirus symptoms, tests are being conducted on key workers, over-65s and anyone who cannot do their job from home, plus social care workers and residents in care homes and NHS workers and patients without symptoms, in line with NHS England guidance

Anyone with symptoms who is in the key groups listed can log onto gov.uk/apply-coronavirus-test  and register via the self-referral portal.

If they meet the criteria, they will be issued with a unique code and will be able to select the Gloucester location, as long as appointments are available.

People who cannot drive to the site can order a home testing kit but supplies are limited.

The nearest alternative sites are at Bristol Airport and Worcester Rugby Club while frontline health and social care staff can use the NHS testing centre in Brockworth with appointments booked through employers.

Gloucestershire County Council and police have worked together to manage signs and traffic flow and a team is on site to ensure it runs smoothly.
