Building firm to sponsor road race

The main sponsor has been unveiled for what has fast become one of the high-points of Gloucestershire running event calendar.

Gloucester-headquartered EG Carter & Co Ltd has been unveiled as the main sponsor of this year's road race, for the third year running.

It will be the sixth anniversary of the re-born event, rescued from collapse and relaunched by Davies and Partners Solicitors and supported by Gloucester Quays Rotary.

As well as providing a fast and interesting circuit its aim is to show off Gloucester at its best, provide a healthy activity for those from Gloucester and further afield and to return monies made to local charities.

Nigel Tillott, a director at Davies and Partners Solicitors and an employment law expert, said "It is wonderful that EG Carter & Co Ltd have agreed to be headline sponsors again this year.

"The company got really involved in the race last year and it was a pleasure to work alongside it."

EG Carter was founded in 1945 and is a fourth-generation family firm. Its project values range from a few hundred pounds up to £20m and it has a turnover approaching £70 million

E G Carter & Co Ltd will be going more than one step further than simply sponsoring the event. It plans to also enter a team to run the 10k route.

The course is predominantly flat and goes past Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester Docks and the Quays.

All proceeds will go towards local charities.

The race is due to take place on Sunday, July 7, 2019. Entry is limited.
