Shoppers eager to get inside the multi-million-pound investment that will be the newest fashion store to open in Gloucestershire have only days to wait.

High Street legend Next is expecting queues to form before it can get around to the official opening of its new canal-side store near to Gloucester Quays on Tuesday (March 26).

Whatever you think of people whose enthusiasm overcomes them to the point they have to queue to be the first in, they may have the right idea - the company will be waiting with cash rewards.

The first 20 will be in with a chance of winning a gift card between £5 and £100 to spend in the 27,962ft store.

The new development is part of a wider £14million regeneration scheme by landowners Peel Land and Property, which own Gloucester Quays.

Leah Taylor, retail parks development manager, said: "We're pleased to welcome Next's brand new "dual-format" store to Gloucester Retail Park, which is the first of its kind in the South West of England.

"This is a significantly high profile building for the city, attracting more shoppers to Gloucester.

"The new store forms part of our £14m investment into Gloucester Retail Park and in the city's regeneration as a whole."

The new store will replace the Next shop at Quedgeley, with staff being relocated to the St Ann Way premises.

Post its 0am opening on Tuesday normal hours are expected to be Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm, Saturday, 9am to 7pm and Sunday, 11am to 5pm.
