Here are the Record Searchlight Athlete of the Week winners

Redding Christian sophomore running back Carson Piper is one of this week's Athlete of the Week nominees after he scored three touchdowns and rushed for 258 yards against Greenville.

A University Preparatory School team shares the limelight for the Record Searchlight's female Athlete of the Week, while a Redding Christian School football player runs away with male Athlete of the Week.

Male Athlete of the Week winner: Carson Piper (Redding Christian)

Sophomore Carson Piper won 59% of the fan vote for male Athlete of the Week.

Piper rushed for 258 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Lions, who beat Greenville 58-18 in the CIF Northern Section 8-man playoffs first round.

Along with junior Clark Smith, running back Piper has been key in generating offense for Redding Christian. The Lions will face Chester on Friday for the CIF title.

Female Athlete of the Week winners: U-Prep girls tennis team

Members of U-Prep's tennis team share the win for female Athlete of the Week.

Freshman Shaniah Soares, sophomores Maggie Barth and Meredith Pinkston, and juniors Kylie Hokanson, Amber Anderson, Natalie Bickmore, Abbie Goss and Vianna Medina won 45.3% of the vote after helping U-Prep win the CIF Northern Section Division title against Chico.

The team is competing in the CIF Northern State championships this week in Sacramento.
