Checking a significant recruiting objective off Colorado State’s list, head coach Steve Addazio and company landed a trio of 2020 offensive linemen two weekends ago while successfully boosting the Rams’ depth in the trenches.

Doing so left one major void unfilled –– to persuade a high school quarterback to take his talents to Fort Collins.

With only two scholarship QBs on CSU’s roster in redshirt senior Patrick O’Brien and redshirt junior Justice McCoy following Collin Hill’s departure, the Rams found themselves in dire need of an additional arm.

Well, CSU fans no longer have to worry about lack of capable options under center as Addazio obtained a verbal commitment from 6-foot-1, 190-pound pro-style quarterback Jackson Muschamp on Sunday afternoon upon utilizing a prior relationship built with the recruit during his Boston College tenure.

The Columbia, S.C. product possessed seven reported offers, including BC –– issued by Addazio and his previous staff –– Middle Tennessee State, Western Carolina and Wofford.

Regarded as a three-star player and the 98th-best pro-style threat in the nation by 247Sports, Muschamp guided Hammond School to consecutive 3A titles as an upperclassman while the Skyhawks accumulated a 25-2 record during that span.

The future Ram orally pledged to join CSU shortly after conducting an official visit to Fort Collins last weekend.

Coincidence or not, Muschamp is the son of current South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp –– who hired former CSU coach Mike Bobo in December as his offensive coordinator after Bobo and the Rams parted ways.

If Muschamp indeed signs his National Letter of Intent, he will represent the first quarterback to become a Ram directly out of high school since CSU inked McCoy in 2017.

Prior to Muschamp, Georgia native Griffin Brewster verbally committed to CSU amid Bobo’s final stages on staff before the pro-style QB pulled out and eventually committed to Kent State on Sunday.
