Aaryn Medina made sure to end 2019 in style.

The Breckenridge senior had a big tournament after Christmas to help the Buckaroos finish second, earning the final Big Country Player of the Week honor of the year.

Medina led the way at the Eula Holiday Classic, averaging 23 points, seven rebounds, and four steals as Breckenridge went 3-1. The Bucks fell to unbeaten Martin's Mill in the championship game, 64-42. The Mustangs (21-0) are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Best of the Rest

1. Landri Edgar/Kenzie Gayle, Cisco guards

Edgar and Gayle were both selected to the all-tournament team at the annual Eula Holiday Classic over the weekend. The duo led the Lady Loboes to the tournament championship, where Mason edged Cisco 37-35 on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. Edgar averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals during the Lady Loboes' 3-1 tournament run. Gayle averaged six points, seven assists and four steals. Cisco coach Brent Kilpatrick added of Gayle, "Her stats don't ever do her justice. She plays almost every minute, guards the other team's best guard and runs our offense to perfection. She is a master of doing the little things right."

2. Rylan Rogers, Baird post

Rogers led the way for the Bears at the May tournament, where the team fell in the championship. The 6-foot-3 senior averaged 17.3 points per game as Baird finished 2-1 after a 45-34 loss to Lingleville. The Bears advanced to the tournament final with a 53-27 win over Class 3A Hamilton and also beat May 48-37.
