Arizona Cardinals stay relevant in 2019 offseason by letting the media's imagination run wild

NFL: Arizona Cardinals- Kliff Kingsbury Press Conference Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

For the offseason, the Arizona Cardinals have done a great job of staying in the national conversation.

Coming off their worst season in the teams Arizona history, which is the losingest in major sports history, it could have been easy for them to just fade into the background, but instead they’ve continued to be relevant.

Hiring Kliff Kingsbury, pursuing free agents aggressively before the start of free agency, and of course by playing their cards close to the vest with the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

They’ve stood behind and supported Josh Rosen, but Steve Keim has kept his options open and said as much.

Keim’s openness to what the first pick could be, any player, has kept the conversation open for sites like NFL.com and CBS Sports to hypothesize about the potential of Kyler Murray in Arizona.

It’s kept the Cardinals relevant in an offseason where they had no reason for the national media or writers to care about them.

It’s not going to change what happens with the first pick, but it’ll keep the Cardinals on the front page more than they would have been.

For that, it’s been a productive offseason.
