Adam Autry, 57, was booked June 11, 2019, into the Carson City Detention Facility on several charges including attempted kidnapping, aggravated stalking and harassment. He is suspected of trying to solicit sexual favors from a woman at a gas station in Carson City. All arrested are innocent until proven guilty.

Carson City detectives arrested a man who they suspect was stalking and attempting to kidnap a woman at a gas station last week.

Adam Autry, 57, faces charges that include attempted kidnapping, aggravated stalking and harassment, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

Autry’s arrest stems from an incident reported on Sunday at the Jacksons Food Store and Chevron gas station on East Fifth Street.

Authorities said a man driving a white van tried to solicit sexual favors from a woman, causing a scene inside the convenience store.

Detectives identified the owner of the van, who was being held at the Carson City Detention Facility on unrelated charges. The owner was cooperating with the investigation and identified the man who was driving his van on the day of the gas station incident as Autry.

On Tuesday, detectives received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding the van, which had California license plates with the number 62242K2. They later spotted the van and arrested Autry at a QuickStop convenience store and gas station on North Roop Street.

The incident involving Autry is one of two others reported earlier this month in Carson City.

The first incident involved a teenage girl who was walking near the Governor’s Mansion last week. She reported seeing a black car pull up next to her as she was jogging in the area.

She also told detectives that someone in the car had taken pictures of her.

The other incident involved another woman, who told detectives that a gray or brown van had pulled up in front of her as she was walking near Carmine and Airport road.

She told the detectives that two younger men got out of the van and tried to get her to leave with them. The victim, in that case, could not provide a further description of the suspects’ van.

Authorities are still investigating the other two incidents.
