RHYL picked up a hard-fought point on their return to Huws Gray Alliance action with a 0-0 draw at Guilsfield.

The Lilywhites emerged with a share of the spoils to keep them in fourth position, with their attentions immediately turning to their crunch derby encounter at fierce rivals Bangor City on Friday night (7.30pm).

Director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones, said: “It was a fair result overall and this is a very tough place to come.

“I thought we had the better of the chances and could have nicked it at the end and it is always a frustrating game here as they defend well in units and are very hard to break down.

“On a positive note it was good to get some minutes into Gaz (Partridge) as he has worked hard to get back to full fitness and we have struggled without him. The young lads have done really well for us over the last month or so and they acquitted themselves well again which bodes well for the future of the club.

“We took a while to get going but after the first 10-15 minutes we were the more dominant team, we had good spells and created some chances.

“Bangor is a massive game and one we all looked for at the start of the season. It will be a huge game and there will be a lot of our supporters there as they have been all season.

“The lads are already up for it and we will be working hard to get everyone’s spirits up even more in time for Friday.”

The game was in doubt following news that the appointed officials had been involved in an accident on the way to the ground, but local Welsh Premier League referee Rob Jenkins was able to stand in at short notice to ensure that the game went ahead with a delay of 40 minutes.

Ben Nash, Sam Molyneux and Cai Owen all missed chances for the Lilies’ in the first period, with prolific forward Steve Blenkinsop firing over at the other end.

The second period saw the away side see more of the ball, but they were unable to break through the resolute Guils’ rearguard and had to be content with a point for their efforts.
