With Christmas just around the corner and the colourful decorations lighting up the high streets, it’s that time of year when Winter Wonderland is back in town! Since its launch in 2007, Hyde Park has attracted over 14million people during the christmas period because of its festivities. Ranging from ice rinks, to theme park rides to a Bavarian Village and of course the Christmas markets, Winter Wonderland is one of the largest festive celebrations in London. Personally, Christmas always seems to creep up on me and all of a sudden my days are packed with gift shopping, writing cards and getting organised in preparation for the big day. That is always very hectic for me so I really enjoy embracing the Christmas spirit at Winter Wonderland with my friends.

Being in the centre of London, Hyde Park is extremely easy to get to with the nearest stations being Marble Arch, Green Park and naturally Hyde Park Corner (although this does get incredibly busy)! With the park opening at 10am and closing at 10pm lots of people who I have spoken to think that Winter Wonderland is a whole-day affair - it’s not if you don’t want it to be! With no entrance fee, the only costs are for the rides, food, drink, gifts etc. (however it all adds up, as you might expect).

Last year I went with my friends and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - especially on a ride called the ‘Waltzer’ where I have never been so dizzy in my life! We went on a Saturday and it did get very busy as the evening went on so I would recommend going during the day if you are going with your family. This will help to avoid all the big queues for rides and refreshments!

Winter Wonderland opened this year on 22nd November and lasts until mid-January so make sure you find some time to go along with your friends, family and loved ones – this event that is bigger and better than ever before is not to be missed.
