Tennessee commits, targets set to visit during final weekend before early signing day

Here’s what we know.

NCAA Football: Alabama at Tennessee Bryan Lynn-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the final visit weekend before the early signing period begins on Wednesday, so naturally, this is a big couple of days. Tennessee is hosting plenty of familiar faces, along with some new names. Here’s what we know.

Commits visiting this weekend

Wanya Morris (Five-star OT, signing/enrolling early)

Perhaps the most constant thing in Tennessee’s 2019 recruiting class has been the status of five-star tackle Wanya Morris. The 6-5, 310 pound tackle committed back in May to Tennessee over Auburn and hasn’t looked back. Since then, he’s been the crown jewel of the class, working to get others to join him.

Morris will return to Knoxville this weekend for one last look at Tennessee before he signs during the early signing period. He’s expected to sign on Wednesday and enroll early in January.

Ramel Keyton (Four-star WR, signing/enrolling early)

Right behind Morris, Keyton has been firm to Tennessee all year long. He took a look at Georgia late, but he’s seeing Tennessee this weekend once again. Keyton plans to sign and enroll early.

Roman Harrison (Four-star DE, signing early)

Tennessee got in early with Harrison before he became a four-star prospect. He could help right off the bat on the edge.

Brian Mauer (Three-star QB, signing/enrolling early)

Mauer will sign with Tennessee early and fix their numbers issue at Quarterback. He will fall in behind Jarrett Guarantano and JT Shrout this spring.

Jackson Lowe (Four-star TE, signing/enrolling early)

Lowe committed to Tennessee over Clemson and hasn’t looked back since.

Aaron Beasley (Three-star S)

Tennessee has had some work to do with Beasley, fending off Nebraska and Florida. For now, all appears well. However, he is not planning on signing early.

Sean Brown (Three-star TE, signing early)

Brown is another on the list that committed to Tennessee over Auburn.

Melvin McBride (Three-star OG, signing early)

Another piece of this offensive line rebuild, McBride is expected to sign early. He is the fourth offensive line commit of the 2019 class. Tennessee could potentially add one more before it’s all said and done.

Targets

Jaylen Ellis (Four-star WR)

The “soft” Baylor commit continues to explore his options. Tennessee could use the help at receiver, plus they could use the infusion of speed into the offense. That’s exactly what Jeremy Pruitt is telling Ellis. He will not sign early and is set to officially commit during the All-American Bowl on January 5th.

Noah Cain (Four-star RB)

Tennessee commit Chris Akporoghene has been working hard on this one. Cain will use an official visit this weekend at Tennessee, just days before he signs early. He’s another one who plans on enrolling early as well. Auburn, Texas, Penn State and Georgia are all in the mix here.

The Vols are also in good standing with four-star back Eric Gray. They currently don’t have a running back committed to their 2019 class, but that should change soon enough.

Nick Figueroa (Three-star JUCO DL)

This is a late target that has emerged over the last month. The 6-5, 270 pound JUCO defense end plans on signing and enrolling early.

Chris Russell (Three-star LB)

Tennessee has been looking for another linebacker to add to this class. The 6-2, 220 pound Russell could be the guy. He’s out of Dyersburg, Tennessee and received his offer from the Vols on November 26th. Arkansas and Auburn are also players with Russell.

Update: You can add five-star tackle Darnell Wright to this list as well. Volquest.com confirmed that he’s on campus this weekend. Wright isn’t expected to sign early, but Tennessee feels like the leader right now.

You can now add five-star athlete Quavaris Crouch to this list. Crouch is expected to decide during the All-American game next month.
