In order for Tennessee to be successful, they better be locking down the borders of their own state on a consistent basis. It’s something that previous staffs failed to do over the last decade and you see where that’s gotten this program.
Today, Jeremy Pruitt took a big step towards re-securing those borders. Tennessee has landed a commitment from Nashville native Keshawn Lawrence, a four-star safety and a top 100 player in the 2020 class. Lawrence is the 2nd ranked player in the state, checking in only behind five-star linebacker Reggie Grimes.

The 6-1, 195 pound safety saw Tennessee at least three times this spring on unofficial visits. He held offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida and LSU, among others. Lawrence took an official visit to Miami last weekend, before choosing the Vols today.
Jeremy Pruitt has quickly turned the secondary from a question-mark into a strength. Four-star athletes Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson are cornerstone pieces for the Vols at cornerback, while young safeties Trevon Flowers and Jaylen McCollough are set become impact players this fall.
This is the second four-star safety commitment for Tennessee in the 2020 cycle, adding to Antonio Johnson, who committed on June 7th.
Lawrence becomes Tennessee’s highest rated commitment of the 2020 cycle to this point. He’s Tennessee’s 11th public commitment so far.
