THE remarkable role played by the Red Cross will come under the spotlight at a special event in Dingwall this weekend.
The Create with Kindness drop-in event at Dingwall Academy on Saturday, March 30 ties in with Mother's Day weekend and will support fund- and awareness-raising for the Red Cross.
It's designed to encourage sharing skills through crafters providing free demonstrations of an aspect of their work throughout the day. There will be Red Cross information, archive materials, a craft raffle and an all-day tea/coffee and cake café.
Local Red Cross volunteers are keen to flag up what the charity does locally in times of crisis, ranging from responding to emergency situations ranging from floods, fires and accidents to power cuts.
During Red Cross Week in May each year, The British Red Cross calls on the public across Highland to tune into the power of kindness’ by doing one kind act a day, helping the organisation raise funds by shaking a bucket, or donating to raise vital funds for people in crisis.
The Red Cross office in Inverness operates a hub and spoke system to provide short-term loans of wheelchairs and toilet aids. Communities in Ross-shire are amongst the beneficiaries.
