Sublime Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency photos impress MSP Kate Forbes in contest to find picture for Holyrood office

STUNNING landscape photos from the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency have impressed the local MSP after she held a competition to find a fine snapshot to hang in her Holyrood office.
Buachaille Etive Mor, the Cuillin Mountains, Spey Reservoir, Loch Shiel and two ‘kissing’ Highland cows have made the final shortlist in as Kate Forbes' constituency photography competition.
Budding photographers from her Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency - which includes the Black Isle and parts of Ross-shire - were invited to submit entries on the theme of ‘Made in the Highlands’, with the winning picture being framed and showcased in her Scottish Parliament office in Edinburgh.
Over 150 submissions were made, and the winner will be announced next month.
The final five are Lukas Bornheim from Fort William, Ellen Kammerath from Acharacle, Stuart Lilley from Laggan in Badenoch, Kyle MacIntyre from Fort William and Adrian Trendall from Sconser on the Isle of Skye.
Kate Forbes MSP (pictured) said: “This constituency is beautiful, and photographers have brought it to life in so many unique ways.
“I’m amazed at the talent and skill that hundreds of photographers have displayed in their photos.
“I’m equally overwhelmed at the number of entrants and it’s been very difficult to pick a winner.
“That’s why I’m putting the final five photos on my Facebook page, and the feedback I receive will help decide the winner as well as the two runners-up.
“I’m always looking for new ways to engage people with democracy and the Scottish Parliament so that they feel it is their Parliament.”
Mr Trendall, whose entry was the Black Cuillin Sunset, added: “I am delighted that ‘Black Cuillin Sunset’ has been shortlisted in such a prestigious competition.
“As a mountain guide and photographer living on Skye, it is a fantastic feeling to share my office with a wider audience.”
Stuart Lilley from Laggan, who captured ‘icy waters’, said: “Having moved to Laggan in the last 12 months to set up our own business, I am delighted to be shortlisted.”
