THE Post Office will temporarily re-open its former Tain High Street site from next Tuesday – as it continues to seek permanent solutions to provision in the Easter Ross town.

Tain has been left with only a mobile Post Office service since last month, when the High Street site closed following the resignation of an existing trade partner.

Since then a temporary mobile service has been operating from a car park on Tower Street, but it has only operated on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am to 1pm.

The situation has caused frustration for Post Office users in Tain although, speaking last month, Post Office area network change manager David Duff said it was the company’s intent to “secure a service operated by a temporary agent at the current location on Tain High Street” while it sought a solution.

That hope has now come to fruition, and the new temporary service will resume at 27 High Street at 9am on Tuesday. Thereafter, Post Office services will be available on weekdays from 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 5pm.

Speaking yesterday, Mr Duff said: “We understand how important having a Post Office service is to residents in Tain and we are confident this temporary service will meet their needs while we continue to seek for more permanent solution for the area.”
