Ross Sutherland’s season comes to a close tomorrow when they host champions-elect Highland 2nd XV.
The Inverness outfit only need a single point to win the Caledonia North Two title, and will be confident of getting it against their rivals.
Highland 2nds are also on the brink of a perfect season, but Stags head coach John Mann says beating their neighbours would be the biggest prize – not ending any unbeaten run.
“You’d love to say that’s going to spur us on, and I hope that it does, but I think it’s more that it’s Highland,” Mann explained.
“It doesn’t matter what they are doing in the league, it’s the fact that it’s a derby match on the last day of the season for us.
“They played us in the Brin Cup, and it was a three-point game that we should have won.
“A couple of last minute calls went the wrong way, but really we should have won that fixture.
“I think it will be a bit of redemption from that.”
