JAMIE Lindsay says Ross County can use the hurt of defeat at Alloa Athletic as inspiration to go and win the Championship.

The Staggies suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to the bottom of the table Wasps at Recreation Park on Saturday as they prepare to face Inverness on Tuesday and Dundee United on Friday on what could be a season defining week.

The Dingwall club stayed two points clear at the top of the Championship after Dundee United lost 2-1 to Queen of the South at Tannadice.

Co-manager Steven Ferguson described the result as a missed opportunity and midfielder Lindsay agreed.

He said his team mates found the defeat hard to take and they are determined not to feel like that again this season looking for the victories that can send County back to the Premiership.

“We just need to win every game we play,” he said.

“We tried that today (Alloa) and it didn’t turn out the way we would have liked it to.

“It is hard to take and it is a bad feeling.

“But it is one of the ones we will have to remember and not feel like this again.

“Hopefully this can bring us on and be ready for Tuesday."

Dario Zanatta scored the only goal of the game for Alloa who deserved their lead at half-time.

Ross County created several chances to equalise in the last 10 minutes but couldn’t find a way past goalkeeper Neil Parry.

Lindsay says the only positive to come from Saturday was that Ross County are still top of the league but knows improvement is required ahead of the Highland derby on Tuesday night.

“It was a frustrating day but we need to pick ourselves up and go again.

“To hear Dundee United lost after the game was a positive.

“But as we’ve said ourselves all season we only want to look at our performances. As a team our performance wasn’t good enough. We need to make that right for Tuesday.

“I said it the last time Alloa play well. They got the early goal and they put us on the back foot so fair play to them.”

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s Highland derby Lindsay said: “They have been hard matches against Inverness this season and all of the five games have been tight.

“We just need to make sure we are ready for it.”
