Thistle will be hoping to make progress in this season’s competition after narrowly losing 2-1 to eventual winners Pentland United after extra-time in the preliminary round last year.

Thistle manager, Tony Farquhar said: “I watched Staxigoe last week, they are a good strong side who have a couple of match winners in their squad.

“It will be a tough game but we have a reasonable squad available, we are confident we can get a result.”

There are eight all-Inverness Association ties in the south section with a number of Ross-shire clubs playing in the first round of the competition.

Black Rock Rovers are making their debut in the competition this year and take on Korrie in Evanton tonight.

Black Rock have made a good start to the season having won all six of their matches in Inverness and District Division Two this season and will be favourites to progress to the next round.

Tomorrow afternoon, Division Two side Muir of Ord Rovers will look to cause an upset when they play host to Premier Division outfit Contin in what will be a Ross-shire derby.

Culbokie face a tough test when they take on Premier Division league leaders Loch Ness, who have won every game they have played in the division at this stage of the season.

The tie of the round sees Premier Division champions Maryburgh take on NMM Sam’s.

Avoch will be favourites to progress to the next round, but will have to be careful when they take on the in-form Division Two leaders Culloden Blacksmiths.

North Kessock Hotel take on IRN Security at Bught Park in Inverness. Fortrose and Rosemarkie Union face Sleat and Strath.

In the north section, two Ross-shire clubs are heading to Caithness.

Invergordon Social Club will travel to Caithness Division Two high flyers Watten while Inver face a tough encounter against Caithness Division One club Lybster.
