Free Lunch, Parades and Fun Highlight Fairview's Old Timers Reunion & Summer Festival

Fairview will host its 73rd annual Old Timers Reunion and Summer Festival this weekend, July 19 to 21. Lots of old favorite activities are back, combined with some new events, to make the weekend fun for everyone. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place in Sharbono Park.

Meet your friends and family Friday night for tasty hamburgers in the park from 5-7 p.m., hosted by the Class of 65, with proceeds going towards festival expenses. Registration of Old Timers will take place at that time, while Ally Cayko Schriver entertains under the gazebo.

NEW!! Kids can register Friday night to win one of four bicycles to be given away at the beginning of the program on Saturday. You must be present to win.

One-man band, Josh Kehr, will be livening up main street from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. with some great dancing and listening music, sponsored by Hotel Albert, Double Barrel Saloon and Waterhole #3.

Plan to spend your whole Saturday in Fairview, beginning with the annual 5K run/walk at 7 a.m. Call Bert Olson at 406-480-6162 to pre-register. The Fairview Firemen's free-will pancake and sausage breakfast takes place from 7 to 10 a.m. at the fire hall. Tours will be available.

Old Timers can register from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Vendors will be set up all day and the Classic Car Show will be held at the North end of the park.

Beginning at 10 a.m., Fairview's history from the MonDak Heritage Center, including items from the Brodhead Maternity Home, and digital copies of the Fairview Newspapers, will be on display in the Other Room at the Hotel Albert. Other displays are welcome, contact the Festival Committee.

FREE LUNCH!! The Festival Committee extends a special invitation to everyone to come and enjoy lunch, courtesy of the committee. Prepared by Tim Neu and his staff at Super Valu, the delicious lunch will be served by the Zion Lutheran Church congregation. Festival committee member Dennis Trudell said they are really encouraging a great turnout of people to enjoy the food prepared. NO BUTTON NEEDED.

Grand Parade entrants need to line up on State Street at noon. The parade, which is always full of floats, horses, equipment and vintage vehicles, will take place at 1p.m. There's always plenty of candy and maybe a water balloon or two.

At 2 p.m., the program will begin with the raising of the flags by the American Legion. This year's honoree, Eddie Buxbaum will be saluted, followed by entertainment.

Immediately after the program, teams will compete in the Tug-of-War which is a revival from years ago when Montana and North Dakota teams used to vie for the championship. Class reunions, families, businesses and friends can register their team by calling Lyle Carlson at 406-480-5815.

The Fairview Community Foundation is sponsoring bouncy houses, laser tag, mini golf, swing cars, fun castle, foam pit and lots more from 2 to 6 p.m., all for only $20 per wrist band.
