It was back in May this year that the first spy images of the 2020 Mahindra Bolero had first been posted. At that time, only the rear of this rugged SUV was revealed. But this time, thanks to automotive enthusiast Ganesh Pagar, we have the front images of all new Bolero BS6 variant.
The Mahindra Bolero is among one of the best selling vehicles in the company lineup. It was only recently that the Bolero pick up range crossed the 15 lakh milestone at the company’s Kandivali plant. The Mahindra Bolero is offered in Bolero Pick Up, Bolero Maxi Truck, Bolero Camper, and Imperio with each of these designed to cater to specific customer needs.
The 2020 Bolero which was spied testing bore only minimal camouflage in the front drawing attention to its exterior updates. It gets a revised front grille design with slanted vertical slats and a circular headlamp unit.
It continues to sport rectangular wing mirrors and a flat roof design and retains its boxy stance with upright windshield and tall pillars. The interiors also get new features with updated safety features which could include driver airbags, high speed alert, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminders and rear parking sensors.
These are in addition to the standard safety equipment offered on its current counterpart that consists of front disc brakes, ABS and EBD. The Mahindra Bolero is due for another major update due to which it will meet new crash test norms that come into effect from October 1, 2019.
The engine lineup also gets updated to comply with new BS VI emission standards. Currently, the Bolero is offered with 1.5 liter as well as a 2.5 liter diesel engine. It is not clear if Mahindra will be updating both engines to meet BS6, or not. The 1.5 liter diesel delivers 70 bhp peak power and 195 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The 2.5 liter motor delivers 64 PS and 195 Nm via 5 speed MT.
Not only the Bolero, but Mahindra will be debuting new products or updating its existing lineup prior to the implementation of these stricter emission norms. These updates will also see an upward revision in price of the Bolero which could go up by around Rs 1 lakh. Current Bolero is priced in the Rs 7.5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs, ex-sh.
