SALEM — Police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing was reported in the area of Palmer Street and Harrison Avenue in The Point neighborhood Friday, around 10 a.m.
Saltonstall School on Lafayette Street and Salem Academy Charter School were both sheltering in place while police continued combing the area for the suspect, according to posts on social media from people at the schools.
Dismissal was still scheduled to commence as usual for both schools under extra police protection, but "we don't think there's any danger, just taking the extra precaution," said Salem police Sgt. Erik Manninen.
According to scanner chatter at the time of the initial call, a victim — bleeding from the abdomen — was located and transported to the hospital.
