HIGHWAY PATROL

— Brittany R. Demarco, 30, of Salem, drove off the side of state Route 11 in Elkrun Township, struck a log and two trees, continued down an embankment and overturned in a creek at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. Demarco initially claimed that she was not involved in a crash, and the vehicle was stolen after she stopped due to a flat tire. According to the patrol, she showed signs of drug impairment. The passenger then provided a statement saying they were involved in the accident. After Demarco was transported to a local hospital, she admitted to being in the crash in a statement. In the statement, she said that she felt her back driver side tire blow, but the tire was found to be intact. Demarco said she did not remember what happened after her airbag deployed. She provided a voluntary urine sample and charges are pending, the patrol said.
