A task force charged with coming up with a long-term strategy for outdoor recreation in Oregon will hold its final meeting on Thursday, Jan. 23, in Salem.
The group was assembled by Gov. Kate Brown last year to ensure that as the state grows all Oregonians have access to outdoor recreation while supporting economic development in rural and urban areas. Specifically, the task force will consider areas of collaboration, investments in the outdoor recreation sector, potential legislation and policies, as well as diversity and inclusion.
The task force, drawn from individuals in the public and private sectors, will issue a report this spring that will be presented to the governor, state legislature and the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission.
At the meeting, the last of six, the task force will discuss its last steps for its final report and what might have been left out. It will also look into funding, organization structure, groups that will continue the work before taking public comment.
The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Willamette Heritage Center, 1313 Mill St. S.E. in Salem.
