ASPIRING actors in Salisbury could have the chance to star in one of Hollywood's next feature films, with an Oscar-winning director known for his work on the most recent James Bond flicks - but the last chance to apply is coming up this week.
A casting call has gone out for men aged 16 to 35, for a paid role in a First World War film directed by Sam Mendes.
Two 10 Casting is looking for men aged 17 to 35 who are available from late April to mid June.
An open casting is being held at Salisbury’s City Hall on Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday 27, which takes place between 1pm and 6pm.
All roles are paid.
Those wishing to take part need to be available both weekdays and weekends, and will need to be able to get to Salisbury easily for early starts.
Mendes, who has won nine Academy Awards for films including American Beauty, Skyfall and Spectre, has confirmed his involvement in a First World War film, 1917, which will begin filming in Spring 2019 and aims for a December 2019 release date.
Planning permission is being sought to transform an area of Salisbury Plain, owned by the Ministry of Defence, into a film set for 35 weeks.
This will include the construction of a set for a French farm, and an initial planning survey suggests it could see up to 400 cars per day at the site during filming.
And it states up to 500 staff will work at the site, south of Chitterne Road in Tilshead, including students from local colleges interested in a media career, with others staying in nearby bed and breakfasts to boost the economy.
