Two apartments badly burned, 10 others damaged in Spring Valley fire
It took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the fire at the complex off Jamacha Boulevard
Two apartment units were badly burned and 10 others were damaged in a fire that ignited at a complex in Spring Valley Sunday morning, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported at the Calavo Woods complex on Jamacha Boulevard near Trace Road about 8:50 a.m.
Fire crews arrived soon after and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second floor of one of the complex’s buildings, San Miguel Fire Department Battalion Chief Andy Lawler told OnScene TV. Sheriff’s deputies helped evacuate nearby residents.
It took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out most of the fire, Lawler said. Red Cross was called to assist the residents who were displaced from the 12 damaged units.
It’s unclear what caused the fire or where it started, Lawler said. Fire crews used oxygen to revive a dog, but no people were injured in the blaze.
