Seattle-connected artists nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards are part of a well-rounded group.

In addition to nominees in the categories of country (Brandi Carlile), rock (Barry and Jeff Ament) and children’s music (Chris Ballew, aka Caspar Babypants), here are other artists with ties to the Pacific Northwest who are hoping to take home a trophy at the Jan. 26 ceremony in Los Angeles.

The telecast starts at 5 p.m. PST Sunday, Jan. 26, on CBS. Grammy.com will stream the “premiere ceremony” — for awards given out before the prime-time show — starting at 12:30 p.m. PST.

Sara Gazarek

The Roosevelt High graduate, who now lives in L.A., earned her first Grammy nomination, a nod for Best Jazz Vocal Album, for the well-received “Thirsty Ghost.” The singer’s project also netted a nomination for arranger Geoffrey Keezer, who’s up for Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for his work on the song “Jolene.”

Natalie Grant

The Seattle native and former Northwest University student earned a nomination in the Best Gospel Performance/Song category for her appearance as the featured artist on Koryn Hawthorne’s “Speak The Name.” It’s the eighth career nomination for Grant, who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her family.

Sub Pop Records

The world’s best-known indie label nabbed two more nominations: Best Americana Album, for Calexico and Iron & Wine’s “Years to Burn,” and Best American Roots Performance for that collective’s “Father Mountain.”
