LEBANON, N.H. (AP) — Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is getting a $2.7 million federal grant to provide screening and treatment for pregnant women with opioid use disorders.
The money is being provided through federal legislation to prevent and treat drug abuse. The 21st Century Cures Act was signed into law by then-President Barack Obama in 2016. It authorizes giving states $1 billion over two years.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock says the grant will assist seven maternity care practices around the state in developing programs to help pregnant and newly postpartum women. The funding continues through June 2019.
Care sites include Keene, Nashua, Bedford, Berlin, Laconia, Littleton, and Dover. Psychiatric consultation, recovery coaching, and case management services will be offered.
