CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Grant Riller scored ten of his 33 points in overtime as Charleston rallied to beat Northeastern 88-79 on Saturday afternoon.

Riller, who was 11 of 16 from the field, nailed two treys in the extra period to help the Cougars win overtime 19-10.

Charleston, which trailed 52-42 midway in the second half, rallied to take a 69-67 lead with 1:04 left.

A Jordan Roland layup with 29 seconds remaining in regulation tied the game at 69-69. Charleston’s Sam Miller got off a 3-point attempt at the buzzer, but it rimmed out and the teams headed for overtime.

Jarrell Brantley tied a season high with 27 points and had 11 rebounds for Charleston (21-7, 10-5 Colonial Athletic Conference).

Vasa Pusica had 25 points for the Huskies (16-10, 10-4), whose five-game winning streak ended with the loss. Bolden Brace added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Donnell Gresham Jr. had 12 points and six rebounds.

Roland, the Huskies’ second leading scorer entering the matchup at 15 points per game, had 7 points. He made 14 percent from 3-point range (1 of 7).

The Cougars evened the season series against the Huskies with the win. Northeastern defeated Charleston 69-60 on Jan. 17. Charleston takes on William & Mary on the road on Thursday. Northeastern plays James Madison at home on Thursday.
